WHO CAN APPLY

Applications are currently being accepted for students who will be in grades 7 - 12 during the 2025-2026 school year.

​

Any 6th - 12th Grader who lives in Fair Oaks or Orangevale or attends middle or high school in Orangevale or Fair Oaks is eligible to be a member of the Teen Council. 

We are looking for students who are:

  • Creative 

  • Dedicated

  • Enthusiastic 

  • Outgoing

  • Responsible

  • Meet new people and interact with teens from your town

  • Get involved with the community

  • Develop important life skills

  • Participate in team-building events

  • Learn skills that can be used for college

MEMBER DUTIES:

  • Create an atmosphere where teens feel safe and comfortable to express themselves and their ideas

​​

  • Encourage the development of community awareness for middle school and high school issues

​​

  • Act as an advocate for teens in the community

​​

  • Create programs and special events that will benefit the youth & teen community

​​

  • Volunteer and donate time and resources to those in need in Fair Oaks & Orangevale

​​

  • Study problems, activities, and concerns of youth & teens, especially as they relate to programs in Orangevale & Fair Oaks

MEMBERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attend at least 75% of monthly Teen Council meetings

​​

  • Participate in at least 1 committee annually

​​

  • Follow through with all Teen Council Commitments 

​​

  • Volunteer at/ attend 75% of Teen Council events and activities 

​​

  • Help promote Teen Council events and activities at your school & with your friends

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Return application with one letter of recommendation to Jenn Gustafson, Teen Council Advisor via email at [email protected] or email to arrange drop off of paper application. 

​​

2. Attend 2 Teen Council General Meetings.

​

3. Once Teen Council Advisor has approved your application, you will be invited to attend a 3rd General Meeting where you will officially become a Teen Council Member. You will be given a Teen Council Tshirt and be placed on a committee of your choice.
